Sober House Certification in Massachusetts
Policy prohibits the use of alcohol and/or illicit drug use or seeking. Verification that entertainment or recreational areas and/or furnishings promoting social engagement are provided. Verification that kitchen and dining area(s) are large enough to accommodate all residents sharing meals together. Verification that a meeting space is large enough to accommodate all residents. » Steps to Certification
All MASH-certified sober homes follow the National Alliance for Recovery Residences (NARR) standards and have been independently inspected. We regularly inspect all member sober homes to ensure safety, quality, and the building of a community of recovery. While the Bureau of Substance Addiction Services (BSAS) in Massachusetts is responsible for certifying all addiction treatment programs in the state, it does not certify sober living homes. Instead, Massachusetts contracts that work out to MASH. Upon arriving at a sober-living house from rehab or detox, a woman can expect a safe and supportive environment that promotes long-term sobriety. The house managers will assist in helping her settle in and become familiar with the house rules and daily routine.
